The all-new 2019 Chevy Silverado is a pickup truck that was first introduced in December at the Texas Motor Speedway show. However, more official details are presented at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Now, exactly 100 years after Chevrolet released its first ever pick up, we have Silverado that is completely new.
The 2019 model shares almost nothing with its predecessor. The engines are revised for better efficiency and boxy frame and overall weight are lighter now thanks to aluminum work. The interior got revamped as well, so everything from design and cabin to the performance is changed.
2019 Chevy Silverado exterior look is completely new
Retro feel on 2019 Chevy Silverado is gone. The exterior design is completely new and it looks better as a result. Plenty of rounded cues will replace squared-off features like fender flares. Rounded shapes are on the front fenders and some straight lines are running over the whole body. Tailgate and front grille are looking more straight now.
The cargo bed is larger and short box at the back has 63 cubic feet of area. The base model adds a larger Chevrolet emblem on the black grille and on the tailgate. The wheels are 17-inch with nice black trim pieces. Higher trim levels are offering 20-inch aluminum wheels, while RST model features 22-inch wheels.
Just like the exterior, the interior is also new with some drastic changes. The dash will come in a two-tone design next to the bucket seats and new center console. On lower trims, the dash is black or gray, and there is an updated 7.0-inch MyLink infotainment screen as a standard. Infotainment system with an 8.0-inch screen is optional.
Steering wheel suffered some design changes and it looks more premium as a result. The controls on the steering wheel are easier to use and revised gauge cluster will now show vehicle information. The center stack comes with simple controls layout. The stack now features controls like auto stop/start, MyLink controls, HVAC knobs and many other. The new Silverado comes with a vinyl, cloth and leather materials, depending on the chosen trim.
2019 Chevy Silverado engine is connected to the 10-speed automatic gearbox
There are two new engine options under the hood of 2019 Chevy Silverado. On top of that, Silverado will benefit from a turbodiesel engine in the near future. The 10-speed automatic gearbox is optional and 8-speed automatic transmission will come as a standard. This is the only official information for now, in fact, we don’t need them anyway.
The 5.3-liter V8 boasts fuel-saving technology such as direct injection and cylinder deactivation. Chevrolet made this move and it should look good as the results are showing 16mpg in the city and 23 on the highway. The biggest news is new 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel drivetrain. It will use a 10-speed automatic transmission as Chevrolet announced and it will make somewhere around 250 HP.
2019 Chevy Silverado price and release date
Thanks to a huge exterior, interior and performance changes, new 2019 Chevy Silverado will go on sale with a slightly increased price. New Chevy’s pickup will cost around $30,000 while top trim level with all options checked could cost at least $60,000. Silverado will become available before the end of the year.
