The newest 2019 GMC Sierra gets a multi-color heads-up display with plenty of options. The display is 7-inches wide and even a Rear Camera Mirror is added. 2019 GMC Sierra Engine Specifications
The 2019 GMC Sierra comes with a new powertrain but it also kept the previous options under the hood. The new engine is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel. An exact number is yet to be revealed but the improvements are expected for sure. The old 5.3-liter V8 engine creates 355 HP while the current top one is 6.2-liter V8. This one is capable of producing up to 420 HP and 460 lb-ft torque and it`s available with models Sierra SLT and Denali.
Both V8s powertrains come with the newest start/stop technology and Dynamic Fuel Management. However, there is one more engine in this line the same old 4.3-liter V6 that is present in the base one model last year. This type of the engine will deliver 285 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 305 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 rpm.
The new diesel option is coming from a GMC’s Duramax lineup, the same lineup that could be found under the hood of Sierra HD and Canyon models. 3.0-liter diesel and 5.3-liter engines are using a 10-speed automatic transmission, while 6.2-liter unit will benefit from the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Fuel Economy and Towing Capacity
All engines on this list above will use direct injection and Active Fuel Management system. This system is there to give engine run on fewer cylinders. With this system, the model with V6 engine 4,3 liter is EPA city/highway fuel economy scores 18/24 mpg for the two-wheel drive system 2WD and 17/22 mpg for the model with four-wheel drive or 4WD.
The next one from the list is the 5,3 liter V6 that gets EPA city/highway scores with (2WD) 16/23 mpg and with (4WD) 16/22 mpg. However, the information of the newest one 3,0 liter is not yet available. The last one that is the most powerful V8 6,2 liters gives fuel scores of 15/21 mpg (2WD) and 15/20 mpg (4WD).
However, in the towing capacity section, all engines give great laudable towing capacity. The model with the V6 engine is able to tow 7600 pounds, while the other two V8 engines can pull 12.500 pounds and maximum tow 11.100 pounds.
2019 GMC Sierra Price and Release Date
The sale of an all-new 2019 GMC Sierra will happen this year around October. The pricing is yet to be announced from General Motors, but we can expect slightly bigger price than the outgoing model. We can say that the new Sierra will cost around $32,000 while Double-cab models start at $36,000. The Crew Cab models cost little less than $40,000.
