Rugged from the outside and comfortable inside, the 2020 GMC Canyon offers everything. It is a very capable midsize pickup truck, it comes with handsome design and is fuel-efficient. The new Canyon comes with two-bed choices and with Extended and Crew Cab configurations. Three drivetrains are in the offer as well, among them one diesel option.
For 2020, some minor changes will happen such as improved tow rating, the new washer-fluid-level sensor is added and Black Out Exterior trim is new feature next to the existing Nightfall Package. Two new colors are Marine Blue Metallic and Satin Steel Metallic. Overall, if you are looking for a capable and efficient pickup truck with smaller dimensions, look no further.
2020 GMC Canyon exterior design
The 2020 GMC Canyon really looks like a smaller version on GMC Sierra. Generally, the same design language is applied to both models and that includes rectangular wheel arches, distinctive headlights, and vertical front grille. Rear bumper comes with a corner step on each side which provides easier reach into the cargo bed.
Crew Cab offers a 5.2-foot bed and it is the longest bed offered in a midsize pickup segment. Heated exterior mirrors are a new feature, among the new Black Out Exterior package. Nightfall package is still in the offer and 2020 Canyon also offers removable and locking tailgate. Higher trim levels such as SLT and Denali are including more chrome work, mostly on the mirrors and door handles.
2020 GMC Canyon interior features
The upcoming 2020 GMC Canyon combines modern features with practicality. The spacious interior is a normal thing for full-size pickups, however, this midsize truck is offering almost the same room as its full-size brothers. The seats are wide and are offering a great legroom, especially at the front. Rear seats are offering an average legroom.
For 2020, GMC adds leather front seats with red stitching. Other cabin materials include cloth, vinyl, and leather.
Infotainment system offers 8-inch touchscreen
The infotainment system is updated and it features 8-inch touchscreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are on the offer too, just like the Wi-Fi.
2020 GMC Canyon engine output
The same engine lineup will power the 2020 GMC Canyon. The base engine is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit that produces 200 HP and 191 lb-ft of torque. This drivetrain is less recommendable than the two remaining options and it does not offer an Active Tow system that is standard on all trim levels. Second drivetrain option is a gasoline 3.6-liter V6.
It is capable of producing 308 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque. It can haul more than most of Canyon’s rivals, however, the next engine is a towing class leader. The 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine with four cylinders is rated at 181 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque. This engine sacrifices speed in favor towing and fuel efficiency. With this drivetrain, the 2020 GMC Canyon can tow up to 7700 pounds.
2020 GMC Canyon price and release date
The base price of a new 2020 GMC Canyon is around $23,000. On the other hand, Canyon offers over a 20 different configurations. Crew Cab Denali trim with a diesel engine is slightly over $50,000. GMC’s newest pickup truck will go on sale at the end of 2019.
