The upcoming 2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG is a modern full-size pickup truck that will hit the markets next year. This pickup was introduced in 2017 and the first pickup that holds the design of Mercedes-Benz. The base model of the X-Class holds the chassis and other cues from Nissan Navara, so the AMG is a really unique truck. With the original Mercedes’ cues, the X-Class AMG offers premium interior and stylish exterior design.
Under the hood, a powerful V8 engine provides more than enough power and there should be an optional 3.0-liter V6. This full-size truck will hit the Middle East and the U.S. markets for sure, so a diesel variant will be a must for the German carmaker.
2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG exterior changes
The exterior of the truck will not change that much with the AMG variant. Most of the features will be exactly the same as on the base model. However, the 2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG will get unique features, but we hoped for more aggressiveness. The front end holds new bumper that looks massive. Honeycomb mesh grille is looking brilliant and the vents will grow in size.
The AMG will look sportier than the original model and it will sport more chrome around the grille and other features. The side profile adds black mirror caps and the carbon-fiber materials will be optional. The side step is new, along with the performance tires. The rear end gets the matte black bumper and larger skid plates. Of course, an AMG badging is a must.
2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG interior features
The approaching 2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG will offer a lot of standard features. The interior will look very modern and stylish. Premium feel starts with the leather upholstery, aluminum trims, and additional chrome and wood materials. The dash also gets leather wrap-ups and we like a flat-bottom leather steering wheel.
The regular seats are heavily bolstered and will come with Nappa leather upholstery. The instrument cluster adds beautifully designed buttons and the 8.4-inch infotainment screen is standard. As on the exterior, carbon-fiber materials will be optional.
2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG powertrain
It is yet unclear which engine will find its place under the bonnet of the 2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG. The most probable outcome is two powertrain choices where the 4.0-liter V8 will come as standard. The optional unit will be a 3.0-liter V6. The standard unit comes in two different configurations. The first configuration delivers 469 horses and 479 lb-ft of torque.
The second configuration will produce up to 503 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 generates 362 HP and 384 lb-ft of twists. With all been said, expect automatic gearbox for both engines. Furthermore, a four-wheel-drive system will probably come as standard. Fuel economy details are not provided yet.
2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG price and release date
It will be interesting to see the exact price of the 2020 Mercedes X-Class AMG. The base model cost around $45,000 so the AMG variant will cost around $65,000. This model will surely hit all of the markets, which includes the U.S. Exact release date is not available, but we can expect this full-size truck later in 2019.
