The Ram 3500 has been around for eight years now, and the latest upgrade happened in 2013. Each year brings us few minor updates and not much will change with 2020 Ram 3500 that has been spotted these days camouflaged.
This heavy-duty truck will keep its 6.7-liter Cummins. However, this drivetrain will gain some extra torque that will put Ram 3500 in a class-leader. Besides that, turbo boost limits are slightly increased, just like the fuel flow. Towing capacity is also improved, thanks to the rise of torque and fifth-wheel hitch.
2020 Ram 3500 exterior improvements
Every part of the upcoming 2020 Ram 3500 will gain some improvements, and the exterior is no different. The front grille comes with nostril-style and with RAM lettering in the center of it. The new front bumper is added and it provides much better cooling.
Ram Box bed is also on the offer and is perfect for storing items. Skidplates are also new and will protect vital engine parts. HD cameras and backup camera are standard, however, a CHMSL camera is optional. Higher trim level such as Tungsten Edition adds more chrome materials, unique wheels and body-colored bumpers. Night Special Edition comes with satin-black grille and black wheels.
2020 Ram 3500 interior features
The interior indeed look out of date, and some of the tech features are here for years. The 2020 Ram 3500 will come with slight improvements, however, the level of luxury is strongly tied to a trim level. The base model comes with a smaller driver information screen, vinyl flooring, AM/FM radio and other basic amenities.
A mid-range Laramie model adds leather seats and top-range Limited model is available with wood trims and colored leather. There are three cab size models, Regular, Crew Cab and the Mega Cab. The Crew Cab is the most popular choice among the customers and it offers excellent headroom and legroom.
2020 Ram 3500 is powered with the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine
The cooperation of Cummins and Ram is working wonder for 3500 model. The 2020 Ram 3500 will come with a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine. This six-cylinder unit is capable of producing up to 390 HP and an astonishing 905 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers of torques make this truck a class-leader.
Additionally, Ram managed to keep the existing powertrain lineup, so two previous V8 engines are still on the offer. A 5.7-liter V8 cranks 385 HP while 6.4-liter V8 returns 415 HP and 430 lb-ft of torque. All engines are available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, diesel powertrain offers both manual and automatic gearboxes.
At the rear, we already mentioned a fifth-wheel hitch that is optional. That hitch helps Ram 3500 to tow up to 30,000 pounds. As the Ram claims, it is the strongest hitch ever made.
2020 Ram 3500 price and release date
While the upcoming 2019 Ram 3500 will cost around $34,000, the 2020 model will get a slight price increase. However, the official numbers are not announced yet.
So if you want a diesel drivetrain with the six-speed automatic transmission, you’ll have to pay over $32,000. The Limited model will cost at least $68,000. Newest Ram’s truck will go on sale in the second half of 2019.
