After the revamped Ram 1500 line up of light-duty trucks received rave reviews from all sides, FCA is quite buoyant. That explains why the carmaker has already started testing the upcoming line up of 2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck. Slated for 2020 release, the test prototypes of RAM HD trucks have been spotted near in Michigan several times.
The spy shots indicate design changes but more changes can be under the hood and inside the cabin. The new generation RAM HD trucks will be manufactured in the company’s Michigan Assembly Plant. This is where the new Jeep Wagoneer will also be made.
2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck design changes
From the spy shots of upcoming RAM HD series, it is evident moderate exterior design changes will come. The Crosshair style grille is going to be changed and the trucks may sport new and sleek looking LED lamps too.
The wheel designs will also be changed and the hood scoop and bumpers will be altered as well. There may be some new exterior colors on offer too. To reduce weight, FCA may use lightweight steel and aluminum in fair amounts in the body- like it has done with the new RAM 1500 range.
2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck cabin look
The cabin may also undergo some changes. FCA may resort to using more upscale materials across the RAM HD line up through the top trims will get better elements. It may use advanced noise cancellation tech in the cabin. The dashboard layout may also receive a boost. Top trims may get perforated leather seats and aluminum trim in the cabin.
The bed may be made with specially treated steel for enhanced longevity. The 3500 HD may get a 6.5-foot bed though there will be other setups and customization choices for the buyers.
Just like the new Ram 1500 lineup, upcoming 2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck will get a boost in safety department and the trucks will also get several amenities. Some advanced driver alert technologies may also be offered in the trucks. The enhanced version of FCA Connect infotainment setup will be included with large display unit.
2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck engine choices
FCA is yet to spill the beans on engines to be used in the 2020 RAM HD lineup. However, the 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel unit with an Aisin six-speed automatic gearbox may be retained.
The Hemi V-8 unit may also be on offer. However, fuel economy may get a boost and output may be changed for the 2020 lineup too.
2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck price and availability
It is not clear when FCA will launch the 2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck. However, the expected time of launch is in the last quarter of 2019 and the next North American International Auto Show may be used for unveiling the range.
The pricing is not known but a small bump over the existing RAM HD range is expected. From the revelations, it is clear that the 2020 Ram HD Pickup Truck will pose a stiff challenge to rivals like Chevy Silverado HD series and Ford Super Duty range. FCA just needs to keep the pricing reasonable.
